Great turkey day; not so great day after :(

GREAT Because.....
All the planning and preparation has kept me from blogging, but now it's over and Thanksgiving was a success. So thankful for everything and everyone. God has blessed us immensely! Everyone came to our house this year including our best friends who might as well be family. It was pretty much perfect. Great food, great family and not so great Iron Bowl. War Eagle anyway! My pumpkin cheesecake was a hit too! Everyone headed back home today and I had the intentions of catching up on some reading in my photography book, getting to know my new sewing machine (shout out to best friend here!) and last, but not least....putting up Christmas decor!
NOT Great because...
At lunch I started to feel yucky, but tried to save face and keep truckin it while we had company. By 3 or 4 I feel like...well you know. Sore throat, eye balls feel hot and I'm cold :( So, I haven't accomplished anything I wanted to today. And to dampen the mood further it is the birthday of one of my best friends who died while we were all still in college. Reflecting on it is something I choose not to do most of the time, but November and Easter I can't avoid. Not to mention (& this may tick some people off but I'm going to say it anyway) that I'm a bit disturbed to see happy birthday written all over my deceased best friend's facebook page. I loved her and miss her too, but really?....
So, I think I will turn in for the night and start over tomorrow. I hope everyone had a great Turkey day as well!

catchin up!

Since I last blogged my camera arrived just in time for the weekend! wooohooo! It's exactly as we ordered it so I highly recommend the website I mentioned in my previous post if your wanting to get a Digital SLR camera. We had a great, fun-filled weekend. Had our best friends come down to go with us to the Peanut Festival, and then Sunday I had my first practice session with the camera. It was somewhat frustrating since I'm still figuring everything out, but I think we still got some good shots. Special thanks to Jennifer and Cade for allowing me to practice on them! Now, to get ready for Thanksgiving at our house this year! Oh, here's a few shots for the photo shoot....

Couponing!

So, I really want to get into couponing. After seeing the savings some of these people have made I can't help but want to save too. This girl's blog has been super helpful! She keeps you up to date on deals and there's even a database so you can search for deals on a specific item. She also has like every store's coupon policy! Let the couponing begin!

Eventful Day So Far...

Hey everyone! I have a good bit to write about today. First, I thought I'd share the link to the article that helped me in picking out my first DSLR. I already had an idea of what I wanted, but this really layed it all out; http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/canon-vs-nikon.html . Also, David found a website where you can get them way cheaper than going to the store. BestBuy had my camera on sale (would've saved $129 from original price), but then he went to bestpricephoto.com and we were able to save $220 and still got free shipping! The only downside is that it takes 7-10 business days to ship. That was ok with me! We thought it may be too good to be true, BUT there are alot of good reviews about the site and my camera so....we'll see!
On another note: My day started rather early this morning. Went to bed at 2am (on night shift) and woke up at 6:30am thanks to Toby the Assassin (my cat) and a screaming bird. Yup, he brought it in my bedroom. Between the cat, a squawking bird, and two barking dogs it was pure chaos there for a minute! I was not a happy camper this morning, BUT David brought Dunkin Donuts coffee home :) and I watched him play his new game. For those of you who don't know, I have to have my coffee in the mornings and I LOVE DD!

Anyway, I was suppose to have lunch with an old coworker and had to reschedule (booo), but then scheduled to have a dinner date with a friend from college on Thursday :) Also excited about taking pictures for another friend and her fiance's Save The Date cards/magnets. I also have two really cute babies lined up for practice....seems like the photography thing is working out already :)
Changing subjects again; so, I splurged and bought these boots that apparently nobody likes but me. David said they look like Chewbaca's head :( Anyway, I'm struggling with the decision to send them back or not. One boot has full, thick, long fur and the other is short, thin and matted. Should I send back and get my money back or just resale them on Amazon or Ebay? If I do that I will repurchase at the actual Bearpaw website. Or should I just keep the ones I have? Here's a photo....they're really cute with dresses and leggings.

My VERY FIRST post

So this is my very first blog :O I'm beyond excited about starting my photography journey! David bought the camera Saturday and it shipped today. I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. In the meantime I'm diving head first into Digital SLR Cameras & Photography for Dummies. Yay! Learning lots. Also, I will be heading to GameStop at midnight to pick up the hubby's new game, Call of Duty MW3. There will be lots of gaming going on in the Vinson household!

my fortune cookie; how appropriate!
